Delbert McClinton – ‘Outdated Emotion’

Delbert McClinton has always been a moving target.

For 60-some years now he’s been sliding across the Americana music-scape. Bouncing effortlessly between Blues and Country, and covering everything in between. He’s developed a lot of love for a lot of music. And he wants to share that love.

Case in point, his latest album, ‘Outdated Emotion’.

Goodies…

…that’s what Delbert stuffed into this album – some of his personal treats (just for us).

They definitely cover a gamut of styles and tastes. But every song is well-crafted and well-performed. So don’t be surprised if you start acquiring a taste for something new. (I’m thinking that’s the point.)

“I’ve always wanted to do an album of the songs that influenced me the most. It’s important music from another time. There is a whole generation, maybe two generations now, who don’t know this music. My whole idea here was to show them how it was and how we got here.” ~ Delbert McClinton

Music Is Where The Heart Is

This is Mr. McClinton’s “songbook.” A glimpse into his musical heart.

These songs are his old friends. He treats them with care and dignity. He cherishes them. And he wants you to cherish them too.

But he also throws in a little wink now and again – because, you know – it’s all about having a good time after all.

Now one album couldn’t possibly open us up to all of the tunes that Delbert holds dear. So maybe there’s a follow up or two on the horizon. Yes?

That would be a good thing because if Delbert likes it, I definitely want to give it a try.
