Mississippi Blues musicians enjoyed a triumphant Sunday at the Grammys, as young Clarksdale guitarist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Hill Country scion Cedric Burnside took home prizes at the 64th annual Grammy Awards. (A good night for the Magnolia State.)

Gov’t Mule just released a 2nd version of their Heavy Load Blues album. This one is “deluxe” because they added 7 more tunes. Maybe they misplaced them before; I don’t know. But they sure are rockin’ solid good ones. They managed to make a terrific album even better.

The word on the street is that Laura Evans is coming out with a Bluesy/Rocky album on July 1st. So she’s kicking off the marketing machine with this video and a tour. If this tune is measure of the rest of the album, it might be a killer.

If you’re in the mood for a tasty instrumental Blues album, this one checks the box. Blues Company is the longest-running German Blues band in das lánd and they’re all great players. They sound like they could handle anything. And these 15 songs (a mix of live and studio cuts) prove that out. (Es ist fantastisch.)

Coming up in June, Hank Williams Jr. will release a stripped-back Blues album entitled, Rich White Honky Blues. It’s gonna be filled with Blues standards and it’s being produced by Dan Auerbach (one-half of the Black Keys) so it will definitely sound authentic. This video’s the first little taste.

Now, the Newport folk scene was turning her on to Muddy Waters, John Hammond Jr and Robert Johnson – and to the bewitching sound of the slide guitar.
HOROJO Trio – Set The Record

Here’s the debut album from a Canadian band, HOROJO Trio. They started their journey together with an impromptu jam and wound up winning the “Best Band” award at the 2020 International Blues Challenge. They’re all gifted musicians but this album proves they’re polished songwriters too. (Me likey.)
