The word on the street is that Albert Cummings is all-in on his music this year. He’s going to be touring extensively, promoting his latest album, Ten, which is doing well. And I’m guessing there will be more videos like this one too. He’s always had great passion for the music. (I’m a big Albert fan.)

ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons Talks Losing Dusty Hill, Making New Music And An Escaping Buffalo
DAILYNEWS.COM

Some straight talk in this interview from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons about Dusty Hill, how their next album (Raw) accidentally came to be, and what it’s like being a 50+ year-old band. They’re still a powerhouse live act. Wherever they plug-in, they sell out fast and never disappoint.

Big Jack Johnson (Feat. Kim Wilson & George “Wild Child” Butler) – Stripped Down In Memphis
MC-RECORDS.COM

This is a posthumous album from Big Jack Johnson. It’s mostly acoustic, featuring Big Jack but also two sensational harmonica players (Kim Wilson and George “Wild Child” Butler). The title doesn’t lie. This is stripped down Blues, as traditional as it gets. Lotsa music from just one guitar, one harp, and one voice.

What’s this? Marcus King in a smokey garage somewhere? Guitar and slide in hand. Playing his latest single from his upcoming album Young Blood (due Aug. 26). Marcus bends genres as well as he bends notes on his Gibson. And his next album is gonna rock baby. (A little birdie told me.)

REDBULL.COM

The man’s literally had to restart his career (from a coma). Yet he’s won 3 of the last 6 Contemporary Blues Grammys. Not bad. Here’s some insight into what’s influenced Fantastic Negrito’s life and work. Note – his next album’s due in a week (White Jesus Black Problems). Will it be 4 out of 7?

The first tune drops on Simon McBride’s new album (The Fighter) and you’re sucked right in. You can’t help it. The guitar riff, his voice, the song lyrics – they all melt into a Blues rocking moment you can’t NOT pay attention too. The good news is that the whole album sustains that energy and excitement. This is an album I thoroughly enjoyed.

Walter Trout – “Ride”

This is a video of Walter Trout doing some of his catchiest, Bluesiest, Southern Rockiest work. It’s the title track from his upcoming album Ride. Walter’s still at the top of his game and this tune sounds like a hit to me. It almost makes me want to take a train ride right now. (All Aboard!)

Eric Gales – “It’s My Walk”
SPOTIFY.COM

Eric Gales is a left-hander. To the naked eye, he plays guitar upside-down and backwards. But, to the ear, there’s nothing unusual about his music. And few Bluesmen on the scene today can match his virtuosity. Cory Wong sits down with Eric on his podcast (Wong Notes) to dig deep into what fuels Eric’s musical furnace.

So, one of the best Blues Rock bands out there today, Robert Jon & The Wreck, has made a video about the joys of matrimonial bliss. As usual, the music rocks and hooks. I’m not sure how they do it, but just about everything they record sounds like a hit.

A video of a pretty young Junior Wells performing the title song from one of THE classic Blues albums, “Hoodoo Man Blues.” The album was accepted into the National Recording Registry in 2012 by the Library of Congress because they thought it was pretty classic too.
