Laura Evans‘ new album is a keeper. It’s a cool mix of Blues-Rock garnished with a squeeze of Country and a dash of Pop. Every one of these 11 songs sounds like a hit and every one is built to show off Laura’s captivating voice. This is her debut album (we’re officially not counting her 2014 EP) and it should break big. (Definitely worth a listen.)

The New Mastersounds (Featuring Lamar Williams Jr.) – “Gonna Get In My Way”

A rockin’ Blues tune from The New Mastersounds. But aside from the fact that the song is an easy listen, the video is sure to cool you off. That’s because it was recorded in Northern Iceland – in November. It’s the 1st single from their new album The Deplar Effect. (No release date yet.)

“The Blues is a Feeling” A Conversation With Curtis Salgado
THEREADER.COM

A simple definition from Curtis Salgado, a simple Bluesman who should know. “The blues is a feeling,” he said. “You hear the blues. You feel it.” He’s happy to be back on tour and even happier to share his thoughts and stories.

Genres, prepare to be bent! The Tedeschi Trucks Band does that you know. And this 2nd installment of their 4-album I Am The Moon series bends them sooo well. These guys sound more like a family than a band — a great big 12-piece family of individual musical personalities that blend together perfectly. (This music makes me smile.)

Interesting video from Elles Bailey. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the kind of photography work needed to promote her Shining In The Half Light album. Looks tiring to me. But the song is great, and her voice is so silky-smooth and delicious, I didn’t really think about it.

Old Joliet Prison Will Host The Inaugural Blues Brothers Con
TIMEOUT.COM

There’s going to be a Blues Brothers convention — and it’s going to be held (appropriately) at Joliet prison. Well, the prison’s been closed since 2002 but it will be open for two days-worth of Blues and Gospel music in mid-August. Lots of great performers scheduled (including Elwood and Brother Zee). Plus other “experiences” as well. Might be the first of many to come.

Albert Cummings – “Two Hands”

While he was busy building a music career, Albert Cummings was also busy becoming a well-respected builder of custom homes. So this song is definitely autobiographical. Albert knows a thing or two about hard work. Now, he’s all-in and full-time on his music career and it will be interesting to see where that work ethic takes him.
