The Commoners – ‘Find A Better Way’
APPLE MUSIC
This Canadian band is totally mis-named. Because The Commoners are anything but common. With a standout lead singer (Chris Medhurst), songs and musicianship to match, this band kills. This is a great Rootsy-Rock album. (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]
Joe Bonamassa – “Known Unknowns”
YOUTUBE
Got some production values on this one folks. And you’d expect nothing less from Joe Bonamassa. It’s the great ending song from his Time Clocks album. (A little spooky, but we love Joe.) [VIDEO]
Taj Mahal: “All You’ve Gotta Do Is Step Out Of The Boxes They Try To Put The Blues In”
LOUDERSOUND
The Industry: “Mr Mahal, will you please get in the box?” Taj Mahal: No thank you, it doesn’t fit me.” So ever since the beginning, Mr. Mahal has been breaking his own musical trail. And he’s got some stories to tell. [ARTICLE]
T-Bone Walker – ‘Stormy Monday Blues’ (Reissue)
APPLE MUSIC
I’m not sure how many albums have been released with this title (lots!), but this new reissue from Sun Records (celebrating their 70th anniversary) is a great selection of T-Bone Walker’s work – the pioneer of the electric guitar. (A nice collector’s album.) [PREVIEW]
Ross Harding – “Black Sun Blues”
YOUTUBE
The Blues is everywhere. Want proof? Here’s South African Ross Harding with an angry, raw number that hits you like a fist punch to the chest. The black-and-white photography and dark lighting complete the mood. [VIDEO]
Matt O’Ree Band – ‘Hand In Glove’
APPLE MUSIC
Going by the credits, the songwriting on this album was a band collaboration. And the Matt O’Ree Band sounds completely engaged here. It’s definitely the Rock side of Blues Rock with strong-on-strong guitar work and some terrific vocals from Eryn O’Ree. [PREVIEW]
