Larkin Poe – ‘Blood Harmony’
APPLE MUSIC
Larkin Poe serves up some tasty Blues-Rock (Southern style), on their new album. Rebecca Lovell’s vocals are the best I’ve heard from her and sister Megan’s slide guitar work continues to amaze me. Top shelf stuff here. (Definitely worth a listen.) [MY REVIEW]
Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown – “Tennessee”
YOUTUBE
Here’s a concert encore tune if I ever heard one. It’s Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown performing “Tennessee” from their latest album (Shake The Roots). These guys have a blend of Southern Blues-Rock you just gotta listen to. [VIDEO]
The Blues Rock Show With Kenny Wayne Shepherd
BLUESROCKREVIEW
The fellas over at The Blues Rock Show squeeze some nice tidbits out of Kenny Wayne Shepherd in this interview. His new album (Trouble Is…25) drops in a scant 2 weeks and I’m thinkin’ lightning is gonna strike twice. [PODCAST]
Henrik Freischlader – ‘Recorded by Martin Meinschäfer II’
APPLE MUSIC
Here’s some Blues-Rock from German Henrik Freischlader that breaks the usual pattern. It’s cool and slick and guitar-solo rich (Henrik nails them all). It begs for a pair of headphones and a glass of wine. (Or maybe an edible?) [PREVIEW]
Jeremiah Johnson – “Quicksand”
YOUTUBE
Just 4 buds hanging out in the green room with some webcam footage of the road to act as counterpoint. Jeremiah Johnson gives us a little 3 minute and 54 second peek of life on the road for a real gigging band. [VIDEO]
Sister Mercy ‘Honey’
APPLE MUSIC
Sister Mercy is a Portland group that’s powered by a dominant lead singer (April Brown). They’ve got all the necessary moving parts and they rip it up on every tune. This band deserves more than a regional audience. (Me likey.) [PREVIEW]
