Snap, pow, yes! The first words that popped into my head when Eddie 9V’s new album started to play. Bluesman Eddie decided to bare his *soul* on this record and he made it work. This is an original, upbeat album that makes my head bob. I love the arrangements and especially the horns on this record. (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]

Belgium Blues band The BluesBones (try saying that 3 times fast) has a new album due in April (‘Unchained’). So “Chain Gang” is a little preview/taste. This band can play any style of Blues you wanna hear. And they’ve got that strong, pulsing, beat-thing down pat. (I’m a fan.) [VIDEO]

Here’s a voice that always grabs my attention. It’s Matt Andersen with a little live video performance of the first single from his March album, ‘Big Bottle Of Joy.’ When Matt cranks it up I do believe he could punch holes through drywall with that voice. And how about those harmonies from the Smith sisters (Reeny, Haliey and Micah)? [VIDEO]
Barbara Blue – ‘From The Shoals’

Barbara Blue made her bones performing 5 nights a week on Beale Street for some 25 years. Hence the title: “The Reigning Queen of Beale Street.” So when she swaggers her way through a Blues lyric you just KNOW she’s “been there – done that.” There’s something comforting about it too. And while her voice is showing some mileage from the years, it’s showing a whole lot of majesty too. [PREVIEW]
