The Cold Stares have grown. They’ve gone from a duo to an official power *trio* and their music’s grown too. They still produce some blistering Blues Rock but there’s a certain new authority about it now. This album commanded my attention. (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]

If you’re looking for a little bit of energy, Dyer Davis has some to spare. Here he is, doing a great job with this Jeff Beck/Rod Steward tune. (With a little keyboard help from Victor Wainwright back there in the shadows.) The man’s got talent and he’s only 23 so I’m guessing he’s gonna leave a musical mark for a lot of years to come. Van Morrison – ‘Moving On Skiffle’

Think of Skiffle as a musical stew, made up of Blues, Folk, Country, Bluegrass, & Jazz. This is the stuff that nourished Van Morrison in his formative musical years. Maybe that’s why he sounds so dang happy reinterpreting these classic tunes. This is a fine album – his fans should love it and there’s a good chance he’ll make some new ones with it. [PREVIEW]
Ana Popovic – “Strong Taste”

A dramatic entrance here for one of my favorite European Blues Rockers, Ellis Mano Band. But they’re good at that. They can deliver some pretty progressive and intensive music with Chris Ellis’ voice taking center stage. I always give a listen to anything they do. [VIDEO]
Rhythm Krewe – ‘Unfinished Business’

New group? Yes & No. Rhythm Krewe is a 9-piece group of studio and touring pros that’s made a debut Blues album that’s smoother-than smooth. Everyone’s great on this record with the horn section really standing out for me. Players know how to play. [PREVIEW]
