Monster Mike Welch – ‘Nothing But Time’
APPLE MUSIC
Monster Mike Welch’s been away from the music scene for a few years but he’s back with a new album, a new record label, but that same old kickin’ guitar. Welch pours every ounce of his “Blues-cred” and experience into this record. And what we get out of the deal is a Blues album with fierce, sustained energy. A real guitar lover’s delight. (Me likey.) Eric Johanson – “The Deep And The Dirty”
YOUTUBE
A steamy little video here, from Eric Johanson. It’s the title track from his next album, due at the end of July. Eric’s a bona fide triple-threat – as a guitarist, singer, and a writer. And he’s been making a habit of landing top 10 albums these last few years. This next one could be big. [VIDEO]
“Why Don’t More Young People Listen To Blues?”
BLUESROCKREVIEW
Here’s Willie Witten from Blues Rock Review with a short treatise on the nature of Blues audience listening. Willie’s got a unique perspective on this and his analysis is spot-on. We’ve gotta get more youngsters exposed to the “greats.” And us oldsters need to loosen up a bit. Pass the word. [VIDEO]
Anthony Rosano And The Conqueroos – ‘Cheat the Devil’
APPLE MUSIC
Anthony Rosano And The Conqueroos, is a no-nonsense power trio. Their Blues-Rock (heavy on the Rock) has an elemental feel to it. And Tab Benoit (their producer and label-boss) captured it well on this record. All original tunes, strong playing, and a heavy sound keep your attention. This is Blues-Rock that would make a headbanger smile. [PREVIEW]
Robert Finley – “What Goes Around (Comes Around)”
YOUTUBE
With 69 years of experience under his belt, Robert Finley has surely seen his share of karma. So when he sings about it, you just know it’s true. His next album (‘Black Bayou’ – due in October), is gonna be a whole bunch more of that truth and experience too. Plus, it’ll all be wrapped up in his own brand of Soul and Blues. Looking forward to it. [VIDEO]
Jeff Jolly Band – ‘Lucky’
APPLE MUSIC
This album was in the oven for a while. The work on this latest, from Jeff Jolly Band (Jeff and Desiree Jolly), began before Covid and finished up just this year. It’s their 6th album and it’s a smooth set of 7 originals and a killer cover of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” from Desiree. These guys are flying under the radar a bit and deserve a little love. [PREVIEW]
