Sad but celebratory at the same time. This posthumous album is the work of over a dozen Blues stars who came together to create one more record with Willie J. Campbell. Willie was an acclaimed bassist with a long musical pedigree (most recently as part of The Proven Ones). He was suffering from ALS but played bass on every track. The record turned out to be not just a great all-star album, but a true love letter from friends. (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]
The Teskey Brothers – “Hold Me”

The Teskey Brothers have a distinctive sound. The centerpiece of course is Josh Teskey’s soulful voice. You could drop that voice into any Blues or R&B song from the last 60 years and he’d make it soar. Case in point, this video montage built around their hit, “Hold Me.” (Looks like their fans agree with me too.) [VIDEO]
Joel Astley – ‘Seattle To Greaseland’

The 80’s have been good to Bobby Rush. First Grammy at 83, a well-received memoir, hit albums – he’s definitely on a roll. Now at 89, with this new album, the roll continues. The band’s locked-in. Think of this video as musical relationship advice. Yeah, let’s go with that! Fog Blues And Brass Band is a 7-piece Canadian group and they sound like they can really get after it on stage. And the advice? Well, the song was co-written by the whole band, so maybe they’re speaking from experience? [VIDEO]
BluesShack – ‘Ten To Five’

A Dutch band here – BluesShack. They’re powered by a steamy lead singer (Loes Jongerling) who’s also a talented artist/illustrator. She created the album art and also co-wrote a few of the songs. (Busy lady!) This is their 3rd album. It’s well done. But they’re flying under the radar right now and could use a little love. [PREVIEW]
