Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind – ‘Behind The Veil’
APPLE MUSIC
Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind’s new album is a beaut! Jason’s harmonica work is wickedly good (gold-standard stuff) and his band has no trouble keeping up. He’s put together a great selection of tunes that show off everyone’s talents too. The variety and virtuosity here are impressive. (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]
Larkin Poe – “Bad Spell”
YOUTUBE
Just in case it wasn’t obvious, the Lovell sisters (AKA Larkin Poe) are once again demonstrating that they are two superb musicians. This is an acoustic take on one of their album hits – one of many such videos they’ve done the last few years. And each one proves my point. (Check ’em out and you’ll see I’m right.) [VIDEO]
Bob Corritore & Friends – ‘Somebody Put Bad Luck On Me’
APPLE MUSIC
When I see one of those great album covers from Bob Corritore & Friends I know I’m gonna get some great, straight-shootin’, Chicago Blues. Here’s their latest, and as usual there are too many “friends” to mention. (Bob knows everybody!) Bob’s harmonica and fingerprints are on every tune and they all bounce just right. Great party record. (Me Likey.) [PREVIEW]
Wreckless Strangers – ‘Orange Sky Dream’ EP
APPLE MUSIC
Let’s do some genre-bending shall we? Wreckless Strangers’ has a new release. It’s only a six-song EP but it covers a lot of musical territory. Each of these tunes from this San Francisco-based group sounds like it could be a radio single. (remember those?) Skillfully polished and easy on the ears. [PREVIEW]
Boneshakers – “Am I Wrong”
YOUTUBE
Here’s a little live magic from the Boneshakers. These guys are having some fun on a South Dakota stage. Heck, they don’t even need to get out of their chairs! Powered by the vocal from Blues Hall Of Fame member Jenny Langer and with Randy Jacobs’ guitar, they make it look easy. (And no, I didn’t forget Les Fisher on that funky cajon.) [VIDEO]
Danny Bryant – ‘Rise’
APPLE MUSIC
Passionate and intense is how I’d describe the new album from Danny Bryant. His husky vocals add grit while his guitar work is wonderfully understated. But the whole album smolders with his emotion. You can’t miss it. Even on the last (instrumental) tune. This is a Blues-Rock confession of an album. It feels … courageous. [PREVIEW]
