This Week…
Mark Joseph – ‘Palisade Peach’
APPLE MUSIC
Mark Joseph’s new album is fabulous from the get-go. He’s put together a great mix of originals and covers on this record – and wrapped them up in arrangements your ear can’t turn away from. It’s Bluesy as hell too. Mark’s voice alone could carry this album but he shares the vocal work with the best backing vocals I’ve heard this year. There’s a lot of positive musical energy coming out of this one! (Definitely worth a listen.) [PREVIEW]
Kenny Wayne Shepherd – “Behind the Music – You Can’t Love Me”
YOUTUBE
A little backstage secret decoder ring info from Kenny Wayne Shepherd about one of the hit singles from his soon-to-be-released album (‘Dirt on My Diamonds, Vol. 1’). I’d love it if more artists did this with their releases. It’s great to hear the stories behind their work directly from them. More please. [VIDEO]
Foghat – ‘Sonic Mojo’
APPLE MUSIC
Foghat. Wow. Just the name brings back memories of getting my eardrums busted up at The Whiskey. Roger Earl is the last surviving original member, but this present configuration is doing the name proud. The new album presses all the right Blues-Rock buttons and covers a lot of musical ground too (Howlin’ Wolf | Chuck Berry | Kim Simmonds). This record is a worthy addition to this legendary band’s catalogue. (Me likey.) [PREVIEW]
Ghost Hounds – “Here No More”
YOUTUBE
Ghost Hounds have popped out a new deluxe version of their recent album, ‘First Last Time (Deluxe).’ The “deluxe” part is the addition of 3 of the tracks done acoustically. This seems to be a happening trend in the album-verse. Marketing aside, the original album’s terrific and the new cuts are great. This is one of them, enjoy. [VIDEO]
Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers – ‘Blues for Minnie’
APPLE MUSIC
A tribute album here of sorts from Kaliopi & The Blues Messengers. This one pays homage to one of the pioneering Blueswomen, Memphis Minnie. Several of Minnie’s tunes are here, but some originals too from Kaliopi (perhaps in Minnie’s style). The album’s well done and shows off the richness of material that came from our true Blues trailblazers. As good now as ever. [PREVIEW]
